Hixon Motor Sports Driver Development Program Launched

As one of the premier teams in the 2023 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich Tires (MX-5 Cup), Hixon Motor Sports (HMS) is continuing to grow with the launch of its new Driver Development Program (DDP). Established to assist today’s young drivers and their supporters bridge the gap between karting and sportscars, the HMS DDP will help competitors achieve their goals of being professionals in the world of motorsports.

“I have worked with Bryan (Hixon) and Shea (Holbrook) to really try and push Hixon Motor Sports to the next level,” explained Scott Michael. “We really want to bring karters up through the ranks and into our nationally known program at HMS. We will help drivers obtain their licenses, assist with coaching and car prep, and help further develop their skills in the competitive world of both Spec Miata and MX-5 Cup competition.”

With several driver development efforts floating the idea around of how they can help a race car driver, Hixon Motor Sports is committed to the process.

“We want to bring new competitors into the sport of Mazda competition, an area that we have had much success at in the past,” explained Bryan Hixon. “We have a ton of rookies in our program, but a lot of them got lost making their move from karts to cars. Due to seeing their issues and hurdles, we felt this was necessary to do it now and do it right!”
